Kayaking on a warm and sunny day! What could be better?! This summer has felt as if it were dragging it’s feet these past few weeks. Being in the 80’s, Father’s Day Weekend and Graduation Day here at Oregon State University really made it feel like summer finally arrived. What better way to enjoy it than with an afternoon paddle! Whoohoo!
One of the best parts of guiding here in Corvallis on the Willamette River is getting to hear your clients stories. Kayaking this river never gets old to me because each time I take guests out it feels like a new experience. Cascadia Expeditions Paddle and Brew Tour here in town is a great way to jump on the river for a few hours before heading off to one of our popular local breweries. A two hour tour and traveling right along side downtown Corvallis. My six guests had a sweet story to share as two of the six were local and had only recently met the other four the year before. Traveling through Oregon they all had a chance to meet up again and share time together.
It was an absolutely perfect afternoon to kayaking this section of river. Because the water flow is still considered high we were able to put in at Kieger Island Bridge with ease (mucking through a little mud) and floating down Booneville Slough out to the Willamette. A leisurely pace, a few clients took the opportunity to learn about Ferrying and Eddy’s.
As this tour begins at 3:00pm we arrived at our ending spot on the river (Michael’s Landing) around 5:30pm in time to mosey over to Sky High Brewery for their included beer flights and bites. Cheers to summer!
