Sailing with Cascadia Expeditions – Developmental Diversity Program
It was a blustery day to be sailing but the brave crew set sail about 3:00 in afternoon. There weren’t a lot of boats exploring on Fern Ridge Reservoir but there was a light breeze blowing from the south which made for pleasant sailing. Participants learned how to hoist sails and belay lines and some of the basics of tacking. Rain remained light and some of the participants spent the entire time on the forward deck watching the prow cut through the waves. After a couple of hours we pulled into a quiet bay and had dinner before heading back to the dock.
