Craft Beer River Tours – Willamette River
Community is something that must be grown and the best adventures are ones that are brewed up. Cheers to our stellar partnership with Rogue Farms! We are stoked to offer new Paddle and Brew trips this summer. This craft beer river tour will give you a chance to explore the scenic waters of the Willamette River as well as Rogue’s revolutionary hop farm. Celebrate your day of paddling with some hard-earned high fives and a locally crafted beer and live the true Pacific Northwest experience.
Kayaking and Craft Beer Belong Together!
Launching our kayaks in Buena Vista, home to the very first hop plant ever grown in Oregon, we’ll paddle in pursuit of beer to Rogue Farms and pull out there to have lunch, go on a tour, and of course, taste some of their craft brews! The day won’t be done yet. We’ll run the river for just a bit longer and conclude in the historic town of Independence. Come along on this locally grown adventure and you’re bound to be in for an unforgettable trip.
Why Rogue Rocks
Rogue Ales is a company whose roots run deep here in Oregon. Chasing a dream, it was first launched in 1988 in Ashland. A year later, their second location opened on the coast in Newport, which nowadays holds down the fort as the central brewery. With much success over the years and a continued vision to “Dare-Risk-Dream”, their goal has never been to be the biggest, but rather to be a leader, and that they have done.
As a team devoted to values of quality work and the art of brewing, the spirit of the Rogue brand suggests to do things differently. With a commitment to build relationships and not just ales, they looked to their connection with the land and the craft that they loved. About 10 years ago, there was a drastic hop shortage in the brewing world, and rather than choose to retreat, Rogue decided to grow a revolution. In 2008 the Rogue Farms was established and sown in the Willamette Valley.
Now, 52 acres of hop yards later, Rogue has cultivated more than just a security of crop, but has grown a culture around their brand and deepened the tasteful appreciation for their brews. Hops have thrived in the Willamette Valley for over three centuries, and they are truly a labor of love. The hops are trained, grown, harvested, sorted, kilned, cooled, and baled all out at the farm- which you will get to see firsthand on your tour. At Rogue Farms, there are over 7 different varieties of hops grown along with hazelnuts, peppers, grains, marionberries, orchards and more.
There’s always something innovative underway at Rogue Farms- whether it’s a new proprietary variety of hop that’s been planted or a garden expansion, you’ll get to see and taste it for yourself. Participants on our beer river tours will receive a discount at the Rogue gift shop too! Don’t worry about cramming cases of Rogue’s finest seasonal ales into your kayak, Our shuttle driver will transport anything you choose to purchase so that it is awaiting your arrival at the end of the river trip! Join us this summer, get out and enjoy nature, and drink beer that was thoughtfully and deliciously brewed from the ground to glass. Book your adventure today!
