Home-Grown River Adventure
There’s no better way to start your day than by being on the river.
Take the opportunity this season to join us at Cascadia Expeditions for a guided kayak trip on the beautiful Willamette, where you’ll be able to witness the local array of birds and other wildlife awaken throughout your peaceful morning float. With naturalists by your side, you will learn about, see, and experience the Willamette Valley and its natural wonder in a whole new way.
Benefits of Outdoor Adventure
On this trip, along with the valuable time exploring the many forces of nature, there are immense benefits of bird watching that can contribute to bettering your health and well-being. Studies have found that lower levels of depression, anxiety and stress have been associated with the number of birds people see in a day! Life can surely be busy and chaotic at times, but how often do we allow ourselves the chance to truly slow down the pace of our day and relax? Once you are out on the river, rather than worrying about whatever else it may be, you are encouraged and able to be mindful and present in the beauty of the moment and peace of the morning. You’ll be engaged with your surroundings as you paddle, peruse, and feel the tranquility and lifted spirits while awaiting the flutter of wings or call from a bird nearby.
Regardless of whether you are an experienced birder, have never once tried before, or would just like to enjoy an early morning on the water watching the wildlife, this trip is open to anyone, of all ages. We’ll provide a delicious, hearty brunch that will await you at a scenic riverside stop during the adventure. We also have all of the gear that you’ll need for this 3 hour trip and of course, plenty of coffee!
Located in the town of Corvallis, which translates in its Latin origin to mean “heart of the valley,” you’ll gain access to both forest and open area birds due to the prime location at the western edge of the Willamette Valley and close proximity to the foothills of the coastal range. From the Willamette River, you may be able to see Osprey, Bald Eagles, Herons, Belted Kingfishers, Warblers, and many more! Beavers and river otters also frequent the river’s banks and show signs of their habitat amidst the multitude of willow species. This area is deeply rich with all the diversity and beauty that can be found here. Come along and see for yourself!
We hope you will join us for our upcoming Breakfast With The Birds trip Sunday, June 4
